Last night I had the pleasure of attending Martina Cole’s star-studded launch of her latest novel, Get Even – an unflinching portrait of a family torn apart by violence and betrayal, but ultimately bound together by loyalty – at London’s swanky Playboy Club.
Get Even is Martina’s twenty-second novel. And who better to chart the rise and somewhat dramatic [also read bloody/sadistic/long-overdue] fall and to explore the psyche of the capital’s crime families than Martina? It’s a subject she has certainly made her own: with Dangerous Lady, The Runaway, Two Women and The Take, adapted for the screen and, some might say, launching the career of Tom Hardy.
