Jane Porter is an illustrator and author. She makes picture books for children and also creates maps and family trails for museums, as well as running a weekly art class for under 5s.
Jane’s debut picture book as author-illustrator, Pink Lion, is due for publication with Walker Books in Spring 2016. Her Baby Walker book, This Rabbit, That Rabbit, was chosen by Booktrust to be given to all babies born throughout 2015 in the Bookstart baby bag.
When she’s not drawing or writing, Jane loves making things: she has created an alphabet from rubbish found in a river, made a silver teaspoon, cooked up her own ink and she has even built her own boat. She loves all sorts of animals and once touched a rhinoceros on the nose.
Arnold the pink lion lives an idyllic life with his flamingo family. When a passing group of lions persuade him to try a life of roaring and hunting, he feels a bit of a failure when he doesn’t measure up…until an unexpected challenge back home helps unleash his hidden ferocious side. A funny look at identity, with lashings of roaring.

This was a really valuable experience for me and has given me lots of useful techniques.
