EVENT CONTENT

It’s all about content: A course dedicated to creating a coherent, engaging and audience appropriate event.

During this workshop authors and illustrators will identify and articulate what it is that makes them and the books they write unique.

The key components of this course are:

  • Identifying the value of author events

  • Understanding the expectations of others within the event chain

  • Transforming the material of your books into engaging event content

  • Adapting your event content and reading to suit multiple audiences

  • Managing the structure, timings and changeability of your author event

Group courses run from 10am to 4pm (including lunch and 2 breaks). 1:2:1 training is delivered in a 3-hour time slot.

02.

DELEGATES

For group sessions there are places for up to 6 authors. 1:2:1 coaching sessions are dedicated to one author only.

03.

STRUCTURE

This course includes trainer-led discussion, written tasks, individual and group activities, and facilitated action planning.

04.

MATERIALS

All authors who attend this course - in a group or 1:2:1 session - will receive a training workbook for the session.

GROUP TRAINING

This offers focused training on a key topic over a full day. It’s a terrific way to demonstrate author care, showing your authors strong, practical support from their publisher. And it provides an opportunity for your authors to share their experiences and to learn from each other as well as from the trainers.

1:2:1 COACHING

Individual coaching sessions are tailored to match the needs of a particular author and are perfect for when you need fast response training. Focusing on one author allows our trainers to provide lots of targeted help. We will marry up the industry expertise of our trainers with the specific needs of your authors to ensure that they get the most out of the session.

Getting the most out of your learning outcomes

We use training best practice to evaluate the ways in which learning changes perceptions, attitudes, knowledge and skills.

PRE-COURSE ASSESSMENT

A pre-course assessment form will be provided to the attendees to determine any learning or mobility issues that our trainers need to consider.

POST COURSE EVALUATION

A post-course questionnaire is completed following the session to evaluate if their learning objectives for the course were met.

RETURN ON INVESTMENT REPORTING

A follow up evaluation, typically six weeks after the course, will be conducted with the attendees – to measure how they are putting the knowledge gained from the course into practice.

“I was surprised by how interesting and provocative the session was – it made me think about my author events in a fresh and unexpected way.”
